Bonjour Paris

The city of love and lights

Citytrip / Paris

Paris
The Paris Squad
A city trip to Paris is always a good idea. If you love good wining and dining, architecture, history, art or fashion, whatever, it is all in the bag of Paris, the city of love and lights.  No wonder Paris is our "amour". We do love this city. We try and visit this megalopolis several times a year. We have done so recently for its fashion week and we went to see our favourite addresses, also on this trip.

Staying the night

We stayed the night in style in the Hilton Paris Opera. It is situated in the heart of the Opera district, only a stone's throw away from the important cultural and tourist places of interest and just around the corner you come across the famous Boulevard Haussman where you van just pop into the Galleries Lafayette.

The Majestic, recently renovates building just breathes class through its great interior and rich history.

The 268 elegant rooms, le Grand Salon, the Executive lounge and the fitness make the Hilton Paris Opera an ideal starting platform to discover Paris.

The rooms are very light, spacious and nicely decorated. You know the feeling of crispy white linen and cozy thick, feather cushions where you can hide in? That is exactly what I mean.
Just one look trough the room window will make you realize that.. you're in Paris, Bonjour Paris!

Cruising around

Paris makes us think about of two things: its Eiffel Tower and its Metro. The latter is the best and most efficient way to explore the city... until recently, that is until we got to know Uber. Just download the application onto your smartphone and after a short registration you van order your Uber by a few simple touches. You can instantly see the driver's data, the type of car, the number plate and the assessments the driver has received from previous passengers.

You can immediately spot the car on the map and follow it around and how fast it will be with you. You can expect your Uber to be with you after about one to five minutes. It is not only quit fast, but cheap too. A Uber is much cheaper than a taxi and much more comfortable than a metro ride.

Lunchtime

Paris offers you a very wide variety of terrific restaurants and bistros, but to us there are a number of them which do excel.

A visit to Paris is never complete if you have not been to the Merci in Le Marais. This hip concept store invites you to browse for hours among trendy wear, books, flowers, kitchen gear, gadgets and paraphernalia and afterwards enjoy a healthy vegetarian lunch in the restaurant on the ground floor.

Merci shop
The dishes and drinks are genuine taste bombs and above all, light and very digestible. They are the ideal refill to continue your shopping trip "full of beans".

Tip: Do try the veggie cake and a carrot, ginger and apple juice... heaven ;-)

High tea with bubbles

There is only one address for an aperitif with matchin cake: Costes! It is the hotspot par excellence in a magnificent backdrop. To notice and to be noticed is the maxim here. People do die for the Pavlova with red fruit, not to mention the cheesecake. Just delicious! It is the perfect place for a phew! In the shade in the real Parisienne fashion.

Cocktails and dinner

Kong guarantees a succesfull dining night. It is a super hip and trendy restaurant with a French and Japanese fusion cuisine. The restaurant is below a vast architectural glass cupola. It is eccentrically decorated by no one less but Philip Starck. Only "high-pitched exclamations of wow" can try to express the awesome views on the Seine, The Sacré Coeur and the design studio of Louis Vuitton! It could be the perfect backdrop for a scene from 'Sex and the City'.

Reservation is a must, but it is absolutely worth its while!
