View over Kempinski resort Seychelles

Welcome to the beautiful Baie Lazare

Mahé Islands
If you would ask a 100 random people where they would like to spend their honeymoon, how many of them would say “the Seychelles”? … probably more then you could count on one hand, so you can imagine how happy I was when we set out on our first visit to this mythical island! (with (allegedly) the most beautiful beaches in the world!) The republic of Seychelles is an Island country in the Indian Ocean, but is closer to the mainland of East Africa. It all sounds very remote and exotic, which it is …. But you have direct flights out of Paris, so basically you’re only 10 hours away from instant paradise.

Our first stop was the main island “Mahé”, where you can find the capitol city of Victoria and around 90% of the country’s population. The other 2 islands are called Praslin and La Digue, but more on them in our upcoming blogpost. The first resort we stayed at was a direct hit, the Kempinski Seychelles resort. Its located on one of the best beach stretches on the island, which is a great plus when in the Seychelles, since its pretty common here to indulge in the hotels facilities and stay on site for most of the time. (unwinding and enjoying each other’s company are key … like it should be on a honeymoon destination )

Kempinski resort collageThe room we had was very spacious and elegantly furnished with custom made wooden furniture. My absolute favorite item was the gigantic bed … after flying 10 hours, it felt like I arrived in pillow & duvet heaven! At the back of our room we had a little private terrace that was attached to the palm tree garden. (one of our favorite spots to relax or take a sundown pic)

Like I mentioned there’s the gorgeous stretch of private beach, but that’s not the only thing that sets the chill vibe. Dinner, lunch … even breakfast can be served beach side… there’s something about eating a sunny side up with your feet in the sand that just seems to agree with me. We also lounged around the beautiful Olympic sized pool and with the help of the very friendly and attentive staff, the jetlag was nothing more than an afterthought.

Kempinski pool lunch collage After all that lounging around we decided it was time to stretch our legs and after reviewing some of the on-site activities decided to take a short hike to the resorts mountain (yes … they have a mountain) which has an incredible view over the entire valley and resort. It wasn’t an easy path to travel, but as the cliché goes, nothing worth doing is
ever easy.

Kempinski uitzicht collage The last thing we definitely want to mention is the presence of this enchanting lake in the middle of the resort … this XXL pond looked straight out of a fairy tale and you can actually have a room that is lake side, which would mean you could wake up to this every morning!

Kempinski meer collage That’s about all I have to say about our wonderful stay at the Kempinski resort, but I think the pictures kind of speak for themselves … definitely worth the visit in our opinion.
